Companies will finally begin to make real money on the Net in 1998--and those that don’t risk being bought or going out of business as patience from venture capitalists runs thin. Online commerce will gain ground, led by business-to-business transactions. America Online and scores of smaller companies will continue their quest to produce compelling Internet entertainment, while parents, politicians, civil libertarians and network guardians will test new technologies for protecting children from adult content.
