Bah! and Rah!

I was very disappointed in the Christmas cookie recipes (“The Great Cookie Search,” Dec. 10). They were too gimmicky and not Christmas-like. Where were the gaily colored cutouts, the spices and sugar plums of Christmas?

It made me wonder if you even know what Christmas cookies are. Why don’t you go to some of the better bakeries in your area and sample some?

Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed baking some of those cookies! The hands-down winner in my office at Cal State Long Beach were the Cranberry Hazelnut Chocolate Drops (I have given the recipe to several people). I’ve only had time to bake five of those you printed: the Chocolate Crackles (also well-received), Firelighters, Coconut Pompoms and Dutch Sugar Cookies (I have Dutch friends). Everyone was so interested that I’m taking the rest of the recipes in so everyone can make the ones they want.
