Obituaries : Jane Van Wart, 100; Retired Saleswoman
Jane R. Van Wart of Ventura, a retired retail saleswoman, died Friday in a local care center. She was 100.
Van Wart was born May 18, 1897, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and lived in Ventura County for more than 40 years. A former buyer for Bullocks department store in Los Angeles, Van Wart moved to Ventura to be close to her brothers and sisters.
In Ventura, she worked for many years at Scott’s Apparel and at the Buenaventura Mall.
Family members said she was a true California sun worshiper and sunbathed well into her 90s.
Van Wart’s nine brothers and sisters and her husband, John Van Wart, died before her.
She is survived by nephews William E. Arnold and William U. Arnold Jr., both of Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura.
