The Trait We Don’t Want to Pass Along

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

This is one audio that diet junkies will surely hate. Waterhouse has the outrageous idea that if we let our daughters eat what they want, they will not obsess about their weight like their moms. Perhaps they will even be less neurotic about food than the average American woman. She makes a strong case for this argument and does so in a clear and upbeat manner. Waterhouse offers tips to break you from the diet-and-weight-gain pattern, plus psychological reasons as to why we pick up and pass on bad eating patterns. Her bright and crisp presentation is surprisingly competent for someone who is not a trained narrator. The abridgment excludes some of the detail of the printed version, but contains enough material to satisfy.
