Medical Center to Be Downsized, Not Closed

Share

Hospital officials said Friday that Brotman Medical Center in Culver City will remain open--albeit in a downsized mode--ending a three-month review and lingering rumors of its impending closure.

Joel Bergenfeld, vice president of operations for Tenet Healthcare Corp., which operates the center, said his company will discontinue obstetrical services and reduce psychiatric services at the facility.

“By concentrating on our core competencies, we believe we can turn around our losses very quickly, putting the medical center in the black,” he said.

Culver City officials expressed relief at the decision to keep the center open. “Closing the center would have had a significant impact on our community,” said Culver City spokesperson Randi Joseph.
