Sau Ghan Chau, a Camarillo resident proud of earning her U.S. citizenship in 1985, has died at the age of 87.
Chau was born Jan. 29, 1910, in China. She moved to the United States in 1963 and was a longtime member of the First Chinese Baptist Church.
“She was very happy to become a U.S. citizen,” said her son, Chester Wong, of Camarillo. “She was a wonderful mother, a very happy lady who believed in God. She was very friendly and liked to help people.”
In addition to Wong, Chau is survived by her daughter, Donna Jue of Camarillo, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, also at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
