A record 800,000 passengers are expected to pass through Los Angeles International Airport during the July 4 holiday weekend, one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

Officials said Thursday was the busiest day at the airport with an estimated 208,000 passengers compared to the average 160,000 daily airport travelers. The increased number of travelers, which has resulted in most airline flights being 90% full, is expected to continue through Monday.

“Our summer passenger traffic is really taking off,” said John Driscoll, executive director of Los Angeles World Airports.
