Slavery Apology

Share

Re an apology for slavery: The same day (June 27) that an article stated that in 1995 “black per capita income overall was 56% of white income,” two letter writers denied moral responsibility for the actions of their great-grandfathers regarding slavery.

Surely these gentlemen and others of like mind have heard of the “trickle-down effect”? Apparently, slavery’s trickle-down effect can actually be counted on payday: A dollar in one pocket, 56 cents in the other. Great-grandfather’s legacy. Let’s hear the denial for that--and all that it buys and stands for.
