County Gets First Night High School

Share

Orange County’s first night high school is seeking students as it prepares to open in September.

Those in grades 10 through 12 may enroll at the new Capistrano Night High School. An information session is planned for Tuesday to introduce parents and students to the school and give them a chance to ask questions.

Capistrano Unified School District developed the night school to ease overcrowding at some of its campuses and provide students with a flexible educational schedule to allow for work or internship opportunities. The new school will share a campus and facilities with Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo.

Night classes will run from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Fridays.

Students will have the same curriculum and graduation requirements as those in day classes and be eligible for credits for work-based learning.

The school’s afternoon and evening schedule also will allow students to accelerate their education by enrolling in classes at both day and night schools, as well as taking courses at Saddleback College.

Tuesday’s meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the mall area on the Capistrano Valley campus, 26301 Via Escolar.
