Salinas Pitcher Shuts Out Vigilantes With Two-Hitter

Share

Salinas scored in the first inning and made it stand up behind the pitching of Mike Trimarco in a 1-0 victory over the Vigilantes in a Western League baseball game Friday night in Salinas.

Brian Kooiman, who had a two-run double in Thursday’s game, drove in the only run with a single that scored Steve Hosey, a former San Francisco Giant. Hosey had doubled off the center-field fence.

Trimarco’s pitching kept the Vigilantes quiet. Trimarco pitched a two-hitter with three strikeouts and picked up his third victory.

The Vigilantes play the Peppers at 5:05 p.m. today. Scott Singleton will be the starting pitcher for the Vigilantes and Carlos Carrasco will start for Salinas (22-21).
