Southland Home Prices Rise 4.3% in June

The median sales price for all homes sold in Southern California climbed 4.3% to $171,000--the largest monthly increase in nearly six years--from the same month last year, according to Acxiom/DataQuick, a real estate research firm. The number of June home sales in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties rose 9% to 21,798 properties, the highest monthly sales count since August 1990. Sales and prices rose in each county, with the June median price in Los Angeles County--the area’s largest real estate market--rising 4.2% to $173,000. Ventura County reported the region’s largest price gain--6.1% to $210,000--and Orange County the smallest at 2% to $201,000.
