Actor Martin Short, whose latest movie is “A Simple Wish”

Date Night: Ideally, Friday nights I would pick up my wife, Nancy, from work and take her to a place called Giorgio Baldi on West Channel Road in Santa Monica for Italian food. My favorite is penne all’arrabbiata. After we catch up for a while, friends will meet us for coffee and dessert.

Sports: I have three kids (Oliver, 11; Katherine, 13; and Henry, 7) who are all into sports, so Saturday mornings there’s always some practice to go to: soccer, hockey, volleyball, whatever. I’ll get up around 8 a.m., have a lot of coffee and hit the park. My kids also love to go bowling in Santa Monica. And we go to Kings hockey games a lot, too.

Puttering: I love to putter in the afternoons. To me, that means straightening the garage, hanging photographs, purging, organizing, more straightening. After all that, I take a lovely nap at around 4:30--hopefully with someone.

Stage and Screen: I see as much theater as I can. I also like to see whatever movie is the talk of the town or a classic 1940s black-and-white film.

Anti-Shopper: I never shop, not underwear, socks, nothing. I find it extremely depressing, as if I’ve been given a Seconal.

Lazy Sundays: We like to bike down the beach to Shutters in Santa Monica for a late breakfast. We’ll meet another family and hang out, play tennis, beach volleyball or touch football.
