Re “Women’s Activist to Head Paula Jones Defense Fund,” July 10: Hello? Am I missing something? Paula Jones is seeking contributions to her “legal defense fund,” when she is the plaintiff, not the defendant, in her suit against President Clinton. She is prosecuting her case, not defending it. She freely chose to sue for several hundred thousand dollars. I am sure that Jones could easily get an attorney to take her case on a contingency-fee basis if she can’t afford to pay her attorney upfront.

I was willing to give Paula Jones the same benefit of the doubt I gave to Anita Hill, but Anita Hill never drove around in a Mercedes begging for money. Jones has lost me as a supporter.
