Panel to Discuss Arts Center Report

Share

Hoping to find ways to prevent the city’s Performing Arts Center from losing money, City Council members have scheduled a question-and-answer session with auditors who analyzed the troubled facility’s financial records.

Auditors from KPMG Peat Marwick will discuss their report on the center at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The report, released earlier this month, concluded that the center has been losing money due to poor record-keeping and unprofitable practices, such as waiving performers’ event fees. The city-owned center posted losses of more than $1 million in the past two years, city officials said.

“I assume there will be a lot of questions” about the center, said interim Finance Director Stan Kleinman.
