Ehler Rocked; Vigilantes Fall Again

Dan Ehler continued to struggle as a starter and the Vigilantes’ road woes grew in a 13-8 loss at Reno in a Western Baseball League game Monday night.

Ehler, who gave up four runs in each of the first two innings, gave up 13 hits and 12 runs, all earned, in six innings.

He fell to 1-8, the worst record in the league, and raised his earned-run average to 8.56.

The loss was the third in four games on the current trip but also makes the Vigilantes 6-21 for the season in away games.

After Reno took a 4-0 lead in the first, the Vigilantes (3-5 in the second half), rallied for four in the second keyed by Sean Drinkwater’s two-run single.

But Reno (6-2) raced ahead with four more in the second.

Willie Mosher had a two triples and a single and drove in three runs for the Vigilantes.

Dusty Martin had a triple, double and a single and Bret Barberie had his fifth home run and a single for Mission Viejo, which had 13 hits.

Brett Jenkins and Paul Ellis each drove in five runs for Reno. Jenkins had two home runs, giving him eight for the season, and Ellis hit his 11th.

Jason Brissey (Huntington Beach High, Golden West College, SCC) had three hits for Reno.
