Scouting Out Banana Boats

The article by Shoshana Goldberg about outdoor cooking (“Box Ovens, Hobo Popcorn and Other Merits of Scout Cooking,” June 25) brought back memories for this former Girl Scout.

The only thing she forgot to mention is Banana Boats: Peel one side most of the way down, scoop out (and eat) some of the banana, fill the hole with chocolate chips and marshmallows, replace the peel, wrap in foil and put in the hot coals to bake/melt. Yum!
