Community Colleges to Add Classes

Share

The South Orange County Community College District is adding more than 200 class sections at its two campuses for the 1997-98 academic year.

The district hopes that by increasing the number of class sections, Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College will be able to handle at least 3,000 more class requests this school year, which starts Aug. 25.

Last year, both district colleges had long waiting lists for thousands of classes, many of which were required courses.

“Students want more classes, and we are doing our best to meet their needs despite limited resources,” Chancellor Robert A. Lombardi said. “We are putting as many teachers as possible into the classroom, hiring some new teachers and reallocating funds to classroom needs.”
