Cuauhtemoc Cardenas Batel’s resignation appeared likely to stem a brewing controversy over Mayor-elect Cuauhtemoc Cardenas’ appointment of his son to a key six-person team to ensure a smooth hand-over of power in December. The younger Cardenas said he did not want to become an obstacle to his father’s political fortunes.
