Hycor Biomedical Inc.: The Irvine maker of medical diagnostic products said it lost $54,000, or 1 cent a share, for the second quarter, contrasted with a profit of $78,000, or 1 cent a share, for the comparable 1996 period. Revenue declined 6% to $4.9 million from $5.2 million.

The company said sales for the quarter were affected by recent changes in currency exchange rates. In addition, the 1996 second quarter included approximately $800,000 in sales of products that have since been discontinued.

For the first six months, the company lost $197,000, or 3 cents a share, contrasted with net income of $146,000, or 2 cents a share, for the first six months last year. Revenue was down 10% to $9.4 million from $10.5 million.
