Jackson on King

Share

In Column Left on Oct. 26, Jesse Jackson said Dr. Martin Luther King felt that “affirmative action was simply part of enforcing the law.” It appears that Jackson is more intent on arguing the semantics of his interpretation of King’s ideas vs. what Gov. Pete Wilson’s interpretation may be, by ignoring the fact that the courts have held that discrimination against anyone in our society is against the law.

Years ago, Jackson in Chicago stated it was unlawful to discriminate against any person, but he has now changed his message to say it is acceptable if it furthers the cause of any effort he supports.
