Bloomberg News

AMR Corp.’s American Airlines unit ordered four more 767 long-range aircraft worth $380 million from Boeing Co., adding to a 103-plane purchase announced last year. American also confirmed an order for four more 777-200s, worth about $548 million at list prices. Those jetliners were part of a $6-billion order that American announced last November, then put on hold until it resolved a contract battle with its pilots in May. All the 777s will be delivered in 1999 and 2000. American also said it chose Trent engines made by Rolls-Royce to power all of its 777 jetliners. Shares of Fort Worth-based AMR fell 94 cents to close at $118.75 on the New York Stock Exchange. Seattle-based Boeing’s shares rose 88 cents to close at $46.63, also on the NYSE.
