Police Arrest 3 After Heroin Is Discovered

Three Oxnard residents were in custody Tuesday on drug charges after a multi-agency raid last week in an unincorporated area near Oxnard.

On Friday, officers from the Ventura and Oxnard police narcotics units and the county Probation Department conducted a probation search at a house in the 3400 block of Minna Street in El Rio.

Officers said they found about 6 1/2 grams of heroin inside the house.

Authorities arrested Dick Anthony Gomez, 39, and Maria Dolores Ruiz, 25, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, said Oxnard Police Det. Joe Tinoco.

Ruiz is also suspected of auto theft in connection with a stolen car that was being dismantled at the residence, authorities said.

Michael Gutierrez, 35, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

On Tuesday, Gomez was being held in lieu of 30,000 bail at County Jail in Ventura. A jail spokeswoman said he also was being held on two warrants, including failure to appear on a previous charge of drug possession and battery.

Gutierrez was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail, the spokeswoman said.

Ruiz was in custody at the Honor Farm in Ojai. In addition to the recent charge, Ruiz was being held on a no-bail warrant in connection with previous cocaine, heroin and LSD sales, authorities said.
