Petitions Available to Abolish the IRS
Orange County residents who want to abolish the Internal Revenue Service can lend their names to that cause today by signing petitions sponsored by U.S. Rep. Ron Packard (R-Oceanside).
The petitions are part of a campaign by the National Federation of Independent Business to abolish the IRS Tax Code by Dec. 31, 2000. Packard announced his support last month.
Erin Hill, Packard’s press secretary, said, “We are trying to generate interest among those who are fed up with the IRS and the tax code and want serious reform.”
Petitions will be available to sign from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Packard’s office in San Clemente, 629 Camino De Los Mares, Suite 204; at Dana Point Chevron, 34164 Pacific Coast Highway; and at Darrell Williams Chevron in Mission Viejo, 27650 Santa Margarita Parkway.
The petition-signing coincides with the IRS’ first “Problem Solving Day” in Laguna Niguel, part of the agency’s commitment to be more taxpayer-friendly following Senate hearings in September that highlighted IRS abuses.
