Applicants Sought for City Youth Committee
The city is calling its youth to service.
Council members unanimously decided last week to revive a youth committee that has been inactive since 1989.
Officials say the nine-member committee will explore what young people need from the city, find activities for after-school hours and work on lifting the image of the city’s youth.
City Council members were so taken with the idea that all five members said they wanted to sit on the selection committee.
They will be seeking nine students between 12 and 19 years of age who live in the city and would like to serve as a liaison between young people and the City Council. The committee will meet once a month during the school year and each member will serve for one year.
