Campaign Spending Subject of Talk

Huntington Beach resident James Righeimer, one of three promoters of an initiative to restrict campaign spending by labor unions, will be the featured speaker tonight at the county chapter of Common Cause.
The citizens’ lobbying group’s meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the community room of the Irvine Ranch Water District, 15600 Sand Canyon Ave.
Righeimer and other initiative supporters recently turned over more than twice the signatures needed to place the measure on the June ballot. The initiative, if certified by the secretary of state, would allow union members to decline to donate a portion of their dues for political activity.
