Teen Rescued From Ravine After Swing Fall

Share

Firefighters spent more than an hour Tuesday rescuing a 14-year-old boy who fell 20 feet from a tree swing and broke his leg, authorities said.

The youth was swinging from a branch overhanging a creek bed near Los Alisos Boulevard and Via Noveno about 4:45 p.m. when the rope broke, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Scott Brown said.

The youth, whose name and residence weren’t available, fell amid the brush in the ravine, which made it hard for rescuers to reach him, Brown said.

Firefighters had to climb down to the boy, then carefully secure him in a basket to avoid aggravating his injuries, Brown said.

Firefighters hoisted the youth to safety and took him to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo for treatment.
