Robinson’s Aim Is to Help Shooters

The Kings may rank among the NHL’s top scoring teams with 72 goals in 21 games, but at Tuesday’s practice Coach Larry Robinson still worked on the types of shots the team should take.

“A major concern of mine is that when we do get good chances, we don’t [always] put the puck on net,” said Robinson, whose team had only 59 goals after 21 games last season.

“[They] have to realize that any shot on goal, if it is on the net, has to be saved. If it is saved, I don’t think anyone with the exception of the goaltender knows where the rebound is going to go. . . . If you miss the net, you know where the puck is going.”

Robinson said center Ray Ferraro probably will play Thursday against Chicago in his first game since suffering a knee injury Oct. 5. . . . Defenseman Garry Galley, who has a goal in two consecutive games and four in all, is on pace to surpass his single-season high of 13 in 1992-93 when he played for the Philadelphia Flyers. . . . The Kings are 3-2 on their homestand, which will end Thursday.
