An Anaheim man was seriously hurt when his car collided with a Santa Ana police cruiser, which then plowed into a barbershop early Wednesday, police said.
About 1:40 a.m., Gaudencio Pineda Flores, 34, was driving his Hyundai east on West 1st Street when he turned left on Olive Street, police Sgt. Bob Clark said.
He pulled into the path of a westbound Santa Ana patrol car and the two collided, Clark said. The patrol car ran through the front of a vacant barbershop and the Hyundai came to rest on the sidewalk, Clark said.
The officer sustained only cuts and scratches, but Flores was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana with a broken wrist and pelvis, and a head injury, Clark said.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
