A True Champion of the Environment

* Those of us walking the planet are only brief, temporary guardians of its air, soil and water resources. No one understood that better than the late Carla Bard, who passionately championed clean water, public health and open space.

Carla Bard was unique among environmental advocates because, rather than simply oppose all projects, she fully researched all projects and supported those that she believed were environmentally sound.

Regardless of the situation, she remained dignified and articulate. She was the ultimate spokeswoman for unborn generations who will never have the privilege of her acquaintance.
