Derailed Cars Crash Into Factory; 1 Killed
Associated Press
LOMIRA, Wis. —
A train derailment near a manufacturing plant sent two rail cars careening through a factory wall Saturday, killing one man as terrified workers inside fled crumbling rubble and debris.
At least a dozen cars of a Wisconsin Central Ltd. train jumped the tracks shortly after 5 a.m. CST, and two plowed through a rear wall of the Kondex Corp. plant where mower blades for farm machinery are made, officials said.
About 30 people were in the factory at the time. Those hurt inside the plant received only minor injuries.
