UC Irvine Women Defeat San Diego

UC Irvine used an 18-4 run in the second half to take the lead and went on to beat visiting San Diego, 56-43, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Sunday.

San Diego led at the half, 29-25, but sophomore center Chelsea Mackey had 10 points in the run to put the Anteaters (1-0) ahead, 43-33. Mackey finished with 18 points and teammate Char-Pei Chen added 11 points and 13 rebounds.
