Intel Creates 4 New Business Groups

Intel Corp. said it created four new business groups as the world’s largest computer chip maker seeks to align its products more closely with emerging trends in the personal computer industry. Intel’s former desktop products group will split into the consumer products group, headed by Vice President Mike Aymar, and the business platform group, headed by Pat Gelsinger, also a vice president. The Internet and communications group will split into the small-business and networking group, headed by Vice President Frank Gill, and the architecture labs, headed by Vice President Craig Kinnie. Santa Clara-based Intel will also create a new digital imaging and video division that will focus on the growing popularity of digital imaging and photography. Intel shares fell $2.13 to close at $78.13 on Nasdaq.
