A key phase in developing the Costa Mesa High School farm as an athletic field will go before the City Council on Monday.

Officials plan to discuss whether to award a $91,364 contract to demolish a vacant farm building, remove paint and begin grading for development.

“What this signifies is the start of making the improvements,” City Councilman Joe Erickson said. “Now we’re going to develop it for use as athletic fields. A lot of people doubted the city could do this without it taking years, but we’re starting with this.”
