Fund-Raiser Is Launched to Help Find Missing Kids
State Atty. Gen. Dan Lungren and John Walsh, host of television’s “America’s Most Wanted,” chose a convenience store here to launch a fund-raising drive that will benefit the search for missing children.
Lungren said the money will be used by the California branch of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Donations will be collected in canisters at 7-Eleven stores across Southern California. The program is sponsored by Southland Corp., which owns 7-Eleven stores.
“Every day in the United States, an average of 2,000 children disappear,” said Lungren, also in town to speak to the Friday Friar’s Club in Anaheim. “Working with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children works diligently to find these children.”
The canister drive will run through Dec. 31.
