Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas announced Friday that a $25,000 reward will be offered by the Los Angeles City Council for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the killing of community activist Juan Marichal Walker.

Walker, 32, who worked to keep young people out of trouble, was gunned down in the garage of his Baldwin Hills home Sept. 20 after he was approached by two or three young men, police said.

“I met him about 10 years ago and he struck me as a very assertive, entrepreneurial man who was trying to do as much good for the community as he could,” said Ridley-Thomas.
