KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chris Henderson had a goal and an assist as the Colorado Rapids beat the Kansas City Wizards, 3-0, Saturday in front of 10,174.
It was the Rapids’ first victory over the Wizards in five games this season. Game 2 of the best-of-three series will be Wednesday at Colorado.
Henderson picked off a back pass by Wizards defender Ryan Tinsley and scored from about 15 yards out in the 25th minute.
Henderson then stripped Tinsley and went two-on-one against Richard Gough with Paul Bravo. Henderson dished off to Bravo and Bravo beat goalkeeper Mike Amman to the left in the 67th minute.
Ross Paule put in a rebound for the third goal for the Rapids in the 75th minute.
The loss was only the fifth at home for the Wizards (21-11).
