Hawaiian Eye on French Culture

Share

French culture in Hawaii? Pourquoi pas? Hawaii today begins a six-week celebration of French art called “Crossings ‘97: France/Hawaii.” Nearly 30 French artists will display their works at 11 sites in Honolulu, including City Hall, the Contemporary Museum and the University of Hawaii Gallery. At City Hall, Turkish-born French artist Sarkis will create an installation involving a giant cage of exotic birds. The Contemporary Museum will display photographs by Tony Soulie documenting his environmental installations on volcanoes.
