Woman Drowns at Laguna Beach Cove
A 51-year-old Huntington Beach woman apparently drowned after falling from a rocky perch into the surf at Santa Ana Cove here, police said Sunday.
The identity of the woman was being withheld until her family could be notified.
Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Greg Bartz said the woman was accompanied by a male companion, her roommate, in a nighttime excursion to the beach.
Authorities got a call for help about 12:30 a.m.
Lifeguards pulled the woman’s body from the surf but could not resuscitate her.
Bartz said the death was under investigation but was considered an accidental drowning.
The Orange County coroner was conducting an autopsy Sunday.
