Cal Lutheran University will host its 33rd homecoming celebration Oct. 17-19 with the nostalgic theme of “Coming Home to CLU.”

“This is a neat opportunity to reflect on who we were, who we are and where we’re going,” said Pam Knitowski, director of alumni relations.

Check-in for the annual Homecoming Golf Tournament at the Camarillo Springs Golf Course will begin at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17, with a “shotgun start” an hour later.

The 1997 Homecoming Court will be announced and the king and queen will be crowned during coronation ceremonies, which begin at 7 p.m. in the Pavilion. An old-fashioned carnival will be held on Memorial Parkway immediately afterward.

On Oct. 18, National Public Radio station KCLU-FM (88.3) will host an open house showcasing its facilities beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The homecoming parade will proceed down Memorial Parkway at 10 a.m., and after 10:30 a.m., alumni will be able to visit their academic departments and old dorm rooms, as well as tour the new Humanities Center. A picnic with professors and fellow alumni in Kingsmen Park will begin at noon.

This year’s homecoming football game between Cal Lutheran and Whittier College begins at 1 p.m. at Mount Clef Stadium.

The day will conclude with celebrations at reunion parties at the homes of alumni and faculty for the classes of 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987 and 1992.

There will be a worship service in Samuelson Chapel, featuring the Alumni Choir, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
