Guard Sought in Armored Car Heist
Authorities were searching for a security guard and as much as $15 million taken from an armored car company in Charlotte, N.C., possibly one of the largest heists in U.S. history. David Scott Ghantt, 27, of Kings Mountain, N.C., was reported missing by his wife early Sunday, and Loomis, Fargo & Co. reported the theft about two hours later, authorities said. On March 29, a Loomis, Fargo guard allegedly committed the largest cash heist in U.S. history, taking about $18.8 million from a company facility in Jacksonville, Fla. Authorities found the van the suspect reportedly drove with cash left inside, an official said.
