Moving Up
The number of permits issued for new housing units in Los Angeles County passed 1,000 in July----the first time since March 1996----as the county caught up with the building boom that has taken hold in other areas of the state. In Orange County, the number of permits issued for new housing units has risen markedly since January. Permits issued for new single-family and multi-unit housing in Los Angeles and Orange counties form January 1996 to July 1997:
