Refrigerator Maker Freezes ‘CFC-Free’ Claims

Norcold Inc. has agreed to discontinue claims of “environmentally friendly” and “CFC-free” in advertising for its recreational vehicle refrigerators. The claims had been challenged by a competitor, White Consolidated Industries. The Better Business Bureau’s national advertising review unit asked Norcold to modify its ads, but Norcold said modified claims might confuse consumers.
