Re “Ellie Nesler Apologizes as She Is Released,” Oct. 2:

Ellie Nesler killed a monster; she owes me no apology. I thank her for what she did. She may have saved my grandchild from the same fate suffered by her son. Unlike Atty. Gen. Dan Lungren, I have no faith in our judicial system. It’s a monetary system. The more money you have to hire a high-priced lawyer, the better your chances of getting away with murder.

* How is Nesler’s crime different from that of Sirhan Sirhan? She executed a man still considered innocent by our justice system, and did so inside a courtroom. If she was insane, she should be treated (for life) in a mental facility. If she wasn’t, she should be incarcerated (for life) in a prison.

Given the indisputable facts, her scripted apology and Lungren’s disingenuous condemnation of vigilante justice, not to mention the hero worship of Nesler by a bloodthirsty public, are absurd. We are not really a civilized society.
