ATM Installed at Police Department

For a safe place to get quick cash from an automated teller machine, try the Police Department.

The new ATM machine, which is available to the public around the clock, was unveiled Thursday.

Police Chief Randall Gaston, who was the first to try it out with a $40 withdrawal, said its purpose is to provide a location that is convenient and safe.

Anaheim Area Credit Union paid $15,000 to install the machine and will cover ongoing maintenance, said Ed Fox, president of the credit union.

And, with robberies at ATMs occurring, Fox added: “I can’t think of any safer place to do business than the Police Department” at 425 S. Harbor Blvd.

There is no surcharge for using the ATM.
