MTA Will Study Valley Transit Issues

Share

Trying to better a bus service that has long been called inadequate and in disrepair, a committee of elected officials, business leaders and community members passed a motion Thursday directing the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to complete a detailed study on improving public transportation in the Valley.

County Supervisors Zev Yaroslavsky and Mike Antonovich had proposed the study after a summit meeting of local officials last month in the Valley. At that meeting, the issues raised included improving bus service and increasing Valley officials’ control over local transportation matters..

Rosa Fuquay, transportation deputy for Antonovich, said a group of MTA legal, planning and labor representatives will compile the study and return with recommendations in time for the next Valley summit meeting in November.
