The Arcadia school board has selected an attorney whose law firm provides legal counsel to school districts across the state to fill a vacant seat on the five-member body.

James C. Romo was chosen from a dozen candidates to fill the school board seat vacated last month by Michael Lamb.

Romo is one of the coaches who helped Arcadia High School students win a competition on the Constitution. Romo, who is Latino, will become the first minority board member, said district officials.
