Two men armed with handguns robbed a jewelry store as it opened Thursday morning, entering through a hole they had cut in a wall shared with a vacant tile store, authorities said.

The robbery occurred about 11:20 a.m. at Sherman Oaks Jewelry Mart, 15030 Ventura Blvd., as the two owners were opening for business, said Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Angela Grant. Police officers arrived at the scene after the jewelry store’s silent alarm was triggered.

The robbers burst through the wall, handcuffed the two women and fled in a car with an undisclosed amount of jewelry, Grant said. No one was injured.
