Polanski and Hollywood

Fred Allen was right. Perhaps the bird seed metaphor was too generous.

Shame on Hollywood ("Polanski Returning? That's Turning Heads in Hollywood," Oct 3). Have the agents and attorneys no female progeny? Can they not feel for the devastating psychological trauma suffered by the 13-year-old child he seduced? This is not about his bankability. Quite simply, the man is scum. He was convicted of an unthinkable crime and fled the country to avoid a lengthy jail sentence. Upon his return, he should go directly to jail. Let's talk about his bankability upon his release.

In the ensuing years, maybe Hollywood's agents and attorneys will have some time to search their own souls for even thinking that he should be given the opportunity to work as a free man.
