Trustees Choose Developer for Housing Project on Kennedy High Site

The Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees has selected a developer for proposed housing on a portion of John F. Kennedy High School in La Palma.

The board Thursday unanimously voted for Seal Beach-based Olson Co., which proposes 29 homes on 4.7 acres at the south end of campus. Officials have estimated the sale could generate up to $3 million for the school district. Athletic fields on the site would be moved elsewhere on campus.

Trustees said the project is needed to fund much-needed repairs to the school’s electrical system and to its condemned swimming pool. The campus also needs an auditorium.

The board’s action comes amid opposition from neighboring residents who packed a meeting Wednesday involving the district and the City Council.
