America Online Inc. and Netscape Communications Corp. said they will team up to offer services, including AOL’s e-mail service, aimed at boosting the ad revenue and the appeal of both companies’ products. Netscape will include in its browser software AOL’s free Instant Messaging e-mail service for tracking and communicating with other customers logged onto the service. The service will also be offered on Netscape’s Web site. Dulles, Va.-based AOL will sell ads that appear on the message screens, sharing an undisclosed amount of that revenue with Netscape. For AOL, the agreements broaden distribution of its messaging service and its sites, moves intended to help the company drum up more revenue through ad sales. The agreement gives Mountain View-based Netscape another way to generate revenue.
